The Looking Glass award for best overall Pattaya Hotel of 2009 goes to Lek Villa in Naklua.

So for those who are surprised at our selection, please read on.  First off, a lot of hotels no doubt are deserving of such recognition.  Thailand is blessed with low cost, excellent hotel accommodations  and Pattaya is no exception.  So why Lek Villa?  Certainly there are many more luxurious accommodations around.  And much cheaper ones as well.  Nevertheless Lek Villa gets our nod for two reasons.  First off it's  Naklua rather than Pattaya itself.  And since Wongamat Beach which is arguably the Pattaya area's most prestigious residential area is in Naklua, the best hotel has to be in the most desirable location?  Right?  But oh well, even if you choose to disagree we are the ones doing this review and you're not.  Our second reason also has everything to do with location.  Lek Villa is only twenty yards from Naklua Road which puts you right on the main bus route to wherever you want to go in Pattaya.  If you want to go to Walking Street you could stay somewhere near Soi Six and jump on the taxi within a couple of minutes from your lodging.  Stay out here in Naklua at the Lek Villa and you only have to travel five to ten minutes longer to get to Walking Street while reaping the benefits of what is likely to be a much quieter area of town.  And if you want immediate access to bars and restaurants you are just forty yards from the Barracuda Bar.  From there you only have to walk a short distance to a number of other bars such as the "Girl Bar" our number one rated bar in the Pattaya area, "Malai Bar" which was last year's number one rated bar, TG's, Leo Bar, Ryan's Pub and many others.  And if it's a massage you want Lek Villa's just a short distance from Harmony, the Looking Glass's number one rated massage establishment along with a number of other places.  And this area in general has a lot of excellent German and Thai restaurants that offer great food for the money.

If you stay at Lek Villa for 15 days or longer, you are going to wind up paying 1100 baht per night but this includes  an excellent buffet breakfast that normally goes for 110 baht, which is a steal for that small amount of change.  Too lazy to get out to find a restaurant at night?  Then just stay in and have the 180 buffet dinner at Lek Villa.  Lek Villa also has one of Pattaya's largest swimming pools while offering in the room internet service.  And just around the corner is a full service travel agency that can set you up anywhere you want to go in Thailand or practically anywhere else in Asia.

Another thing to consider is guest fees just in case you bring a female overnight guest to your room.  Many hotels typically charge as much as a 600 baht guest fee.  Lek Villa has none.  Once again, the Pattaya area has many fine hotels, but Lek Villa  location is in the premiere part of town and within this prestigious area the fact that it is just 20 yards from the main road gives it an unexcelled access to the rest of the area.  Its amenities including its pool and restaurant are outstanding.  So if we have to rate a hotel as the best all rounder out of all the excellent choices Lek Villa's a tough one to beat.
