St. Louis Forest Park's Planetarium
by Jack Corbett

| When I drove up there were all these High School
students running cross country close to the Planetarium which reminded me of
over twenty years ago when I lived close to Forest Park and used to run there.
Back then there was an outdoor archery range next to the place.
Inside the white domed building there are of course the shows of the astrological
wonders of our solar system.
But now there's even more to keep visitors over at this end of Forest Park with the underground causeway connecting the Planetarium to the Science Center across route 40. Going from one place to the other the visitor walks through several simulated mines as the traffic rushes overhead. So walking through this underground tunnel is not just a neat way of getting from the Planetarium to the Science Center or back to the Planetarium--it's a stroll children and possibly even adults won't ever forget. It reminds me of my first trip to Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry where I went through the museum's coal mine.
